Tempe City Council increases Landscape Rebates



TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe City Council approved an increase in the Landscape
Rebate Program proposed by the Water Utilities Department on Sept. 30, 2004.
The Landscape Rebate Program has increased its payout to $250 for the front
yard and $250 for the backyard, a total of $500 if both are converted from
grass to desert landscaping.



Before, residents were only eligible for a one time rebate of $100 to
convert a front or back yard of grass to desert landscaping. The City
Council's approval came in the midst of continuing drought conditions in
Arizona, and the program offers residents a greater incentive to convert
their landscapes to a low water use Xeriscape design.
