Mesa announces joint application for grant funding

Mesa announces joint application for grant funding

The City of Mesa Community Revitalization Division and Office of Human
Services recently announced the start of the fiscal year 2005-06 funding
application process for the City's combined federal Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), Human Services
general fund, Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) and A Better Community (ABC)
programs. This year the City and Mesa United Way have partnered to create
a joint application. Both agencies will use the same application for grant
funding. Previously funded projects and programs include housing, youth
prevention, job training, meals on wheels, homeless assistance, upgrading
city parks and recreation facilities, and neighborhood improvements, such
as sidewalks, streets and street lighting.

"Human Services funding is an investment in our community's future
self-sufficiency," said Mesa United Way President and Chief Professional
Officer Carol McCormack. "Combining the two allocation processes helps
alleviate a duplication of effort and allows agencies to do what they do
best, focus on service delivery."

The City will host an information meeting from 10 a.m. to noon, Nov. 9 in
the Saguaro Room of the Main Library, located at 64 East First Street.

The application form, instructions and schedule are available online at
www.cityofmesa.org/comrev/application. The deadline to apply is 3 p.m.
Dec. 17.

For more information, call (480) 644-2387.
