Water treatment plant pumps shut down due to storm run-off
Tempe asking residents to curb water use until afternoon
TEMPE, Ariz. - Due to the rapid currents from storm run-off, two pumps shut
down at Tempe's South Water Treatment Plant. The pumps assist in settling
dirt out of the river water. The plant has been shut down and the repairs to
the pumps complete but water service will not be restored from the plant
until around noon today.
The North Water Treatment Plant has been shut down due to the canal dry up
and Tempe is relying on wells and is using an emergency connection from
Phoenix to provide water service. System storage and capacity are limited
and Tempe is asking residents to conserve water use until this afternoon
when the south plant is expected to be operational.
