Candidate Information Packets now available for Election 2006



TEMPE, Ariz. - It's time to prepare for Election 2006. The Primary Election to fill three Tempe City Council seats will take place on March 14, 2006. Council Candidate Information Packets are now available in the City Clerk's Office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 31 E. 5th St. Applicants must fill out all appropriate paperwork and nomination petitions with a minimum of 932 qualified Tempe voter signatures and a maximum of 1,864 signatures. Candidates can begin to file on Nov. 14. The deadline to file will be 5 p.m. on Dec. 14. To qualify, potential candidates must be:

· A qualified elector residing in the City of Tempe. (A.R.S. § 9-232(A))

· At least 18 years old at the time of the election. (A.R.S. § 9-232(A))

· A resident of the city, or an annexed area, for at least two years immediately preceding the election. (Tempe City Charter, Article II, § 2.01(b))
